My client is part of a £500M turnover Group.  They are in their own right a £50M turnover business and the largest manufacturer of structural metal decks in the UK.  As part of their planned and strategic growth they have recently invested more than £2M in a new production facility to manufacture both cold rolled purlins and load bearing structures and framing.  This joint venture business (partnering with their biggest customer) makes them one of the top 4 producers and suppliers in the sector.

The Company, is 50% privately owned, 50% owned by the largest structural steel specialist in the UK and is as a consequence extremely financially stable.   As part of their planned growth and expansion the company is looking to appoint a Structural/Design Engineer with knowledge and experience in the cold rolled steel framed structures arena

This is a newly created position (not a replacement) and is based at the company’s Midlands offices in Halesowen and is part of their planned and continued growth and expansion.

The successful candidate will be responsible for utilising in house and proprietary design software (and AutoCAD) for the engineering design and specification of the company’s loadbearing light steel framing product: you will produce construction specifications, calculations and details for the products to relevant quality standards.  Projects worked on are formed from light gauge cold-formed steel sections which are panelised offsite combined with hot-rolled steel members and composite slabs; typically utilised on residential type schemes (e.g. hotels, private residential, assisted living, student accommodation etc.) – As the Structural/Design Engineer you will be responsible for designing the structure and working with the company detailers to produce project models.

Our ideal candidate, degree qualified in Structural or Civil Engineering, will have at least 3 years’ building design experience with a good knowledge of design software such as AutoCAD and/or other 3D packages.  This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious career minded individual to join a successful and expanding company.
