Our client established for nearly 40 years is an independent privately owned OEM, manufacturer and supplier of ultrasonic NDT (non-destructive testing) solutions serving a wide and diverse blue chip client base spanning sectors such as aerospace, energy, automotive, rail, marine, petrochemical, and oil and gas process industries in the UK and internationally.  From simple scanners and ultrasonic transducers to more complex inspection probes and sensor systems, they produce a range of high-quality standard NDT products as well as producing bespoke solutions to specific customer requirements.  They also supply UT and EC equipment and consumables such as Dye Penetrant, MPI and ultrasound couplants and provide a comprehensive calibration and repair service to client across all sectors
The company was acquired in 2012 and the new owners have invested heavily in the business, in its infrastructure, and in its people including moving to much larger premises with state of the art facilities enabling it to exploit its potential for growth both domestically and globally: the company now has a portfolio of international clients including a number of companies in the USA and beyond
We are looking to appoint a Technical Development Manager with an appropriate electro/mechanical engineering background to take responsibility for the design and manufacture of both new and existing products: ensuring production methods and manufacturing techniques optimise the performance and reliability of all products.  This is a key role within the business and the salary will not be a limiting factor in appointing the best person for the job
Our ideal candidate will possess a high degree of commercial acumen and demonstrate the ability to interface with customers to identify and resolve their technical problems.  You will be entrepreneurial and resourceful, and able to work both independently as part of a small team in a dynamic SME environment.  Excellent project management skills and experience in successful project delivery are perquisite.  You will be technically qualified, ideally to degree level in Science or Electrical/Electronic Engineering and will be able to demonstrate NDT knowledge, ideally qualified to UT level 3 (or equivalent).  A working understanding of BS EN 12668 and ASTM standards would be a distinct advantage.  As part of the role you will be required, on occasions, to travel both within the UK and internationally.
